Maxine and Ben met at Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, WA in October 2017. Maxine was having dinner with her parents and their Australian neighbor, Shane. Shane had just interviewed Ben for membership so when she saw him dining at another table she approached him and told him he’s “gotta ask Maxine to dance!” (there was live music that night).
Ben did not in fact ask Maxine to dance that night because according to him “Millennials don’t do that”, but he did give her his business email address. One week later she emailed him and the rest is history.
The Proposal
Maxine and Ben had just finished an exhausting day of moving out of their longtime apartment, when Ben suggested they get dressed up and go out to dinner. Maxine agreed but insisted they watch one last sunset from their apartment before dinner—sunset from their apartment was one of Maxine’s favorite things. At sunset, Ben got down on one knee and proposed. Maxine and Ben ended up staying in, drinking champagne, and ordering Thai food (which they ate off moving boxes) to celebrate their big night.
